Hello friends and family,
We have exciting news to share about where God is leading us in the next season of our lives and marriage. In July of 2020, we will be attending a Discipleship Training School (DTS) at Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii with the intention of joining the soon-to-be established YWAM Lancaster as full time volunteer staff. The more we meet with Luke and Julie Weaver, the base directors of YWAM Lancaster, the more our excitement about the base’s vision and the opportunity to join and contribute to their team grows. The first step in becoming YWAM staff is to complete a DTS. Cordell completed his in 2014 before we were married. After prayer and seeking council, we have decided to complete a DTS together, so Savannah can also complete hers.
In the quest to know God and make God known, YWAM was established in 1968 as a means to mobilize young people into missions. YWAM staff and students bravely take the Gospel into the world, providing training to Jesus-followers, sharing the Gospel through evangelism and preaching, and providing basic needs and essential care for the hurt and suffering through mercy ministries.
During our DTS, we will spend six months emerged in a missions focused community that loves prayer, worship, the Bible, and telling people about Jesus. The first three months will consist of biblical studies and outreach in Kona. In the following three months, we will be reaching the lost with the Gospel in another country yet to be determined. This training program will ground us in Biblical truth, teach us to walk in the power of Holy Spirit, spread the Gospel of Jesus, help the poor and disadvantaged, and equip us to become YWAM staff.
